Overview#
Cart Rocket creates rocket links — one shareable URL that loads a checkout-ready cart. Built for Shopify stores that live on paid ads, email, SMS, and creators.
Every rocket link can:
- Add exact products, variants, and quantities
- Apply line-item, cart-wide, and shipping discounts — plus auto-applied Shopify codes
- Bundle multiple products into one campaign link
- Send shoppers to the cart page, straight to checkout, or Shop Pay
- Enforce eligibility rules, purchase limits, and active dates
- Pass UTMs and custom tracking for revenue attribution
- Stamp custom tags onto Shopify orders from that link (existing tags stay)
- Generate a downloadable QR code from the preset editor
No theme code required. Compatible with Dawn and every third-party theme. It fills the gap between the ad click and the checkout.
Quickstart#
What is a cart preset?
A cart preset (also called a checkout link or cart link) is a reusable configuration: products, quantities, discounts, shipping incentives, discount codes, eligibility rules, purchase limits, checkout destination, and tracking. Each preset generates one shareable rocket link.
Creating your first cart preset
- Open the dashboardInstall Cart Rocket from the Shopify App Store, then open the app inside your Shopify admin.
- Create a cartClick
Create cart— or duplicate an existing preset to spin up a new campaign in seconds. - Name itUse a title you'll recognize in analytics, e.g.
bfcm-bundle. - Configure products and rulesAdd products and variants, attach discounts, set eligibility, limits, and active dates.
- Choose the landing modeCart page, straight to checkout, or Shop Pay — your choice.
- Copy the link (or download a QR)Every preset gets a short URL on your store. Optional: generate a QR code from the editor.
- DeployPaste it into Meta ads, Klaviyo flows, SMS, creator bios, or Shopify Flow emails.

Managing products#
Adding products
Inside a preset, click Add product, select one or more products, choose specific variants, and set quantities. Products are automatically added to the customer's cart when the link is opened.
Editing quantities
Each product allows quantity adjustment. Common use cases:
- Bundle packs — 3× of the same item
- Wholesale bulk orders
- Gift sets
Removing products
Click the trash icon next to a product to remove it from the preset.
Discounts#
Cart Rocket supports multiple discount types, all applied automatically when the link opens.
Line-item discounts
Apply discounts directly to specific products — as a percentage or a fixed amount. Example: 25% off the snowboard, full price on the wax. This gives you strategic margin control, bundle optimization, and selective discounting.
Cart-wide discounts
Apply a percentage or fixed-amount discount to the entire cart. Ideal for storewide sales, flash offers, and paid ad campaigns.
Shipping discounts
Apply shipping incentives automatically — free shipping campaigns, reduced-shipping promos, or ad-specific offers. Shipping discounts are applied the moment the preset link is used.
Automatic discount codes
Add one or more Shopify discount codes to be auto-applied (e.g. SAVE10, WELCOME20). Multiple codes are supported and the customer never types anything.
Bundles#
Cart Rocket creates bundle-like cart experiences without modifying your theme.
How it works: add multiple products → apply bundle pricing → share a single link.
- Holiday kits
- Influencer drops
- Product sets
- Upsell packs
Checkout options#
Choose where customers land after they click the rocket link. Defaults send shoppers straight to checkout.
| Mode | Behavior | Best for |
|---|---|---|
| Checkout (default) | Straight to Shopify checkout — no product-page stops | Paid traffic, SMS, high-intent campaigns |
| Redirect to cart | Opens the cart page first so shoppers can review the loaded items | Bundles, gift sets, discount review |
| Shop Pay checkout | Opens Shop Pay's mobile-optimized wallet flow | Creator traffic, Instagram / TikTok, SMS |
Customer rules#
Control who can access a preset.
All customers
Anyone with the link can use it. Best for public campaigns, ads, and email marketing.
Specific customer segments
Restrict the preset to Shopify customer segments — VIP customers, loyalty tiers, or wholesale buyers.
Specific customers
Manually select individual customers for private drops, early access, and exclusive offers.
Purchase limits#
Limit how many times a preset can be used.
Max purchases — overall
Cap total purchases across all customers (e.g. 100 total redemptions). Perfect for limited drops, scarcity campaigns, and controlled inventory.
Max purchases — per customer
Limit purchases per customer, e.g. one per customer, to enforce fairness and prevent abuse.
Reset usage
Purchase counters can be reset manually at any time from the preset.
Active dates#
Schedule when presets are valid.
- Start date & time — when the preset becomes active
- End date — optional; after it passes, the preset automatically deactivates
Perfect for midnight launches, flash sales, and campaign coordination.
Tracking & attribution#
Cart Rocket includes built-in UTM tracking on every link.
Supported UTM parameters: utm_source, utm_medium, utm_campaign, utm_term, utm_content — plus any custom query parameters you add.
# One preset, attributed per creator .../c/summer-kit?utm_source=tiktok&utm_campaign=creator-mia .../c/summer-kit?utm_source=instagram&utm_campaign=creator-jules
Why it matters: track revenue by Facebook Ads, Google Ads, email campaigns, influencers, and SMS. Revenue attribution is stored and visible inside Analytics.
Tag order#
Turn on Tag order in the preset editor to attach custom tags to Shopify orders that come through that rocket link. Tags go on the order — not the customer profile.
After checkout, Cart Rocket adds your tags to the order. Existing order tags are preserved — nothing is wiped or replaced.
Name tags after the campaign or channel so you can filter orders in admin:
bfcm-bundle— Black Friday or offer-specific reportingsms-launch— SMS or email launch trafficmeta-retarget— paid ads and retargeting
Optionally pair this with a Conversion note — a short note in the order details for human context (fulfilment notes, campaign notes, and so on).
Analytics#
Analytics provide preset-level performance data, aggregated daily from order attributes (UTMs and custom parameters) and preset usage markers.
| Metric | Description |
|---|---|
| Total Orders | All store orders in the selected range |
| Preset Orders | Orders that came through a rocket link |
| Revenue / Preset Revenue | Store-wide vs. link-attributed revenue |
| AOV | Average order value, with date-range filtering |
Four tabs break performance down: Overview, Presets, Campaigns, and Custom parameters.
Automations & Shopify Flow#
Cart Rocket includes an Automations page with setup guides for Shopify Flow. Each guide shows the trigger, conditions, waits, and actions — then you rebuild the workflow in Flow and paste your rocket link into the email or SMS step.
Guides are grouped into three categories:
- Cart recovery — abandoned checkout emails that reopen a prefilled cart (standard and high-value variants)
- Repeat purchase — restock / price-drop alerts, reorder reminders, win-backs, welcome sequences, form follow-ups, and post-purchase upsells
- Rewards & gifts — VIP reward links, scheduled gift claims, and creator product gifts
How to use a guide
- Create the rocket linkBuild the Checkout Link in Cart Rocket (products, discount, landing mode, UTMs).
- Open AutomationsIn the app, open a template and copy the step checklist.
- Rebuild in Shopify FlowCreate the workflow in Flow with the same trigger, conditions, and waits.
- Paste the linkPut your Cart Rocket URL in the email or SMS action body.
.flow exports are integrity-signed inside the Flow editor. Cart Rocket ships step-by-step guides you rebuild — not one-click importable Flow files.Sidekick#
Cart Rocket connects to Shopify Sidekick so you can search, create, and edit rocket links from the admin assistant — without hunting through menus.
- Search — find existing cart links by name or handle
- Create — open a new cart-link draft with products and discounts prefilled when Sidekick knows them
- Edit — update products, tracking, cart-level discounts, shipping incentives, and optional order tags on a saved link
Ask Sidekick things like “create a Black Friday link with 20% off” or “find my creator-mia checkout link.” Discounts can be applied directly on the link (percentage, fixed amount, or shipping) — you don't need a separate Shopify discount code unless you specifically want one.
Best practices#
For paid ads
- Send directly to checkout (or Shop Pay on mobile)
- Pre-apply discounts so shoppers never hunt for a code
- Track UTMs per ad set
- Create a separate preset per campaign
For influencers
- Create a unique preset per creator
- Attribute with
utm_campaign(and optional custom params) - Add an order tag that matches the drop (e.g.
sms-launch) so you can filter those orders in admin - Auto-apply a unique discount code or a Cart Rocket cart discount
For flash sales
- Set an active date window in UTC
- Cap total and per-customer redemptions
- Pair with scarcity messaging in the ad or SMS
For bundles
- Pre-configure quantities and variants
- Use line-item discounts on the hero SKU
- Skip building separate landing pages
For Shopify Flow
- Use Automations guides as the blueprint, then paste the rocket link into the message
- Keep a lighter-discount recovery link and a stronger high-value link
- Tag UTMs so Flow traffic shows up in Analytics → Campaigns
For QR & retail
- Download the PNG from the preset editor
- Land mobile scanners in Shop Pay when impulse matters
- One QR per offer — don't reuse a BFCM link for January
Troubleshooting#
Discount not applying
For auto-applied Shopify discount codes, confirm the code already exists in Shopify, is active, and its conditions are met. For Cart Rocket cart / line-item / shipping discounts, confirm they are saved on the preset and the link signature is current (re-copy the link after editing).
Preset not working
Check that the preset status is Enabled, the active date window is valid (UTC), and the purchase limit hasn't been exceeded.
Customer limit not enforced
Ensure the customer is logged in and a per-customer limit is set on the preset.
Flow email opens but cart is empty
Confirm you pasted the full Cart Rocket URL (including handle), the preset is still enabled, and any attached discount codes remain valid.
Security & compatibility#
- Works with Shopify's native checkout
- Compatible with Shop Pay
- Does not modify your theme — works with Dawn and all third-party themes
- Uses the Shopify discount engine, so nothing breaks at checkout
- All cart modifications are secured with server-side signatures
Why Cart Rocket#
Cart Rocket fills the gap between the campaign click and Shopify checkout: one rocket link loads products, applies discounts, and lands shoppers on cart, checkout, or Shop Pay — without theme edits.
Typical outcomes merchants optimize for: higher conversion rate, higher AOV on bundled offers, less drop-off after ads/email/SMS, clearer UTM attribution, and tighter control of VIP drops and flash sales.
