# Lunar New Year and Ramadan Gift Sets for 2027

In early 2027, Lunar New Year and the start of Ramadan fall two days apart. Many stores sell gift sets for both: food and tea for New Year visits, hampers during Ramadan and presents for Eid al-Fitr. This post covers the dates, why the Eid date can't be fixed in advance, and how to set up gift set cart links around both.

## The dates

**Lunar New Year:** the first day of the first lunar month is Saturday, February 6, 2027. The 15th day of that month falls on Saturday, February 20. Both come from the Hong Kong Observatory's [2027 Gregorian-Lunar conversion table](https://www.hko.gov.hk/en/gts/time/calendar/text/files/T2027e.txt), which lists 2027 as the year of the Goat (checked October 14, 2026).

**Ramadan and Eid al-Fitr:** the UAE's Astronomy Centre expects Ramadan to begin on February 8, 2027. If the month runs 30 days, it expects Eid al-Fitr on March 10. If it runs 29 days, the Eid holiday would start on March 9 ([The National](https://www.thenationalnews.com/news/uae/2026/10/06/ramadan-2027-uae-dates-eid-al-fitr-holiday/), checked October 14, 2026).

Those Islamic dates are projections. The start of Ramadan and the day of Eid depend on the sighting of the new crescent moon, and different countries and communities may begin a day apart. The [Gulf News explainer](https://gulfnews.com/uae/ramadan/when-is-ramadan-2027-the-expected-date-moon-sighting-and-eid-explained-1.500630523) covers how that works. Plan around a range of dates, and don't put a single Eid date in your copy as if it were confirmed.

## Two seasons, two links

The shopping windows overlap, but the gifts, the audiences and the deadlines are different. Give each its own cart link:

- **Lunar New Year gift set:** for example tea, sweets or a homeware set, with an end date at your shipping cutoff for delivery before February 6.
- **Ramadan and Eid gift set:** for example a hamper of dates and sweets, or a gift box for Eid, running through Ramadan with an end date at your cutoff for delivery before the earliest expected Eid date.

On Basic, only one cart link works at a time. Running both through early February needs Pro, which has unlimited cart links.

## Build each set as a bundle

In **Products**, select the items, choose **Create bundle**, name it and set its price. The shopper sees one bundle line in the cart. If the items should stay as separate lines, skip **Create bundle** and use a cart-wide discount instead. See [Bundles](https://cartrocket.dev/docs/#bundles).

If a set has sizes or colours to choose from, turn on the [options page before checkout](https://cartrocket.dev/docs/#options-page) and tick **Let shoppers choose size/colour** on those products. The page shows the set in your theme, with its prices, before checkout. Use **Heading** and **Description** to say what's in the box and give the last order date. [Holiday gift bundles in one link](https://cartrocket.dev/blog/holiday-gift-bundles.html) has more on building sets for gift buyers.

If you describe a food item as suitable for a particular diet, make sure your product information supports that.

## Schedule the dates

Set each link's window in **Advanced**, under **Active dates**. All times are entered and enforced in UTC, and if your store isn't on UTC the editor shows the same moment in your store's time zone. Before the start date, shoppers see a notice that the offer hasn't started yet. After the end date, the link stops working and shoppers get a short notice. See [Active dates](https://cartrocket.dev/docs/#active-dates).

### Lunar New Year

Pick the last date you can ship and still reach customers before February 6, add a buffer, and make that the end date. If you want to keep selling after New Year's Day, up to the 15th day on February 20 for example, use a second link for that later window, so you can see the two periods separately in Analytics.

### Ramadan and Eid

Because Eid could fall on March 9 or March 10, or a day later in some places, base your cutoff on the earliest likely date and leave room for delivery. If your customers are spread across countries, the gap may be wider. Write the deadline as an order date, such as "Order by March 3 for delivery before Eid", so the copy holds whichever day Eid falls on.

## Count down to your shipping cutoff

A [countdown](https://cartrocket.dev/docs/#countdown) on the options page should end at a deadline you control. Tick **Show a countdown until this offer ends** and choose **When this cart link ends** under **Count down to**, so the timer and the link share one end date: your shipping cutoff.

Don't count down to Eid itself. You can't know the moment in advance, and a timer that hits zero on the wrong day undermines the page. A **Label** such as _Order for delivery before Eid in_ (up to 40 characters) is accurate whichever day the moon is sighted. For Lunar New Year, _Order for New Year delivery in_ works the same way. [Add a real countdown to your cart link offers](https://cartrocket.dev/blog/cart-link-countdown-timer.html) explains what shoppers see at zero.

## Gifts sent to someone else

Many of these orders go to relatives or friends at another address. The shipping address is whatever the buyer enters at Shopify checkout. If you use [Checkout details](https://cartrocket.dev/docs/#checkout-details) to fill in details from your email tool, consider turning on **Email** and **Name** and leaving **Shipping address** off for gift links, since the buyer's own address may not be where the gift is going.

For corporate gifting, such as a company sending Eid or New Year gifts to clients, you can limit a link to a Shopify customer segment in **Advanced**, under **Customer rules**, and give it its own pricing. Logged-out shoppers are asked to log in first.

## Who sees which offer

Don't build segments from guesses about a customer's background. Send each offer to people who have told you they want it: a signup for Ramadan gift updates, past buyers of last year's New Year set, or your whole list with both offers side by side. Creators who already talk to that audience can share the link with their own `?ref=` code, added under **Creators**. [Creator drops for the holidays](https://cartrocket.dev/blog/holiday-creator-drops.html) covers that setup.

## Track each season

- **UTMs:** in **Tracking**, use separate campaigns such as `lny-2027` and `ramadan-eid-2027`. They show under **Campaigns** in Analytics.
- **Order tags:** turn on **Tag orders** with tags such as `lny-2027` and `eid-2027` so you can filter orders in your Shopify admin.
- **Order note:** a short note in the order details, such as "Eid gift, ship by March 3", can help whoever packs the order.

Next year you can duplicate both carts, change the dates and products, and compare the two seasons. Docs: [Tracking & attribution](https://cartrocket.dev/docs/#tracking).

## Before you share

1. Lunar New Year: February 6, 2027, from the Hong Kong Observatory table.
2. Ramadan and Eid: copy says "expected" and doesn't fix Eid to one day.
3. Each link's end date is your own shipping cutoff, with a buffer.
4. Countdown labels name the order deadline.
5. Separate UTMs and order tags for each season, and both links opened with **Open** under **Cart link** before sending.
